Iran’s short ‘Showan’ has been honored at the 19th Anchorage International Film Festival (AIFF) in the US.
Directed by Bijan Zarin, the short film was Runner Up in the AIFF’s Narrative Short section, the Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported on Wednesday.
The film is about Showan who lives with his family in a village in Iran’s Kordestan Province.
After he lost his job at a factory, he has been forced to become a smuggler to make ends meet.
The 19th Anchorage International Film Festival was held in the US state of Alaska on December 6-15, 2019.
The festival aims to “develop, promote and sustain a film festival that supports new media and independent film making in Alaska and around the world while enriching cultural and entertainment opportunities for Alaskans”, according to AIFF’s website.
